How are leave balances calculated?
Where balances come from and when they update.

For staff on the inbuilt Optiq Payroll engine, balances accrue per pay period based on the leave type's accrual rule (e.g. annual leave accrues at 4 weeks per year pro-rata).
For staff whose payroll runs in Xero, balances are imported from Xero fortnightly β Optiq doesn't accrue independently. You'll see the "Balance as at $LAST_IMPORT_DATE" on the staff profile and in leave requests.
Pending leave requests (not yet started) are deducted from the displayed balance so you can see the "effective available" balance. Approved leave that has begun is deducted from the actual balance.
Manual adjustments are possible from People β Staff β (staff) β Leave balances by Payroll Admin or Super Admin.
